Friday Concert Update

It’s been a very exciting week in concert news to say the least. More announcements have been made, and today one of the biggest female stars from the ’80s rock scene has been confirmed for an appearance at the Moondance Jam on July 17: Lita Ford. She began her music career early in the 1980s, but it wasn’t until 1988 when her career exploded thanks to the hit album Lita, and its two major singles which both became MTV staples: “Kiss Me Deadly”, which is arguably her most popular song, and “Close My Eyes Forever” – a duet with Ozzy Osbourne that solidified her presence on the charts and garnered her more respect from 1970s rock fans.

Although success eluded her in the ’90s, she came back onto the scene in full force in 2008 when she performed for the first time in nearly 20 years at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma. She hasn’t embarked on a full-blown tour yet, but she appears to be lining up some more dates for 2009. Given that, her performance will be a rare treat and I for one can’t wait.

Want to catch one of Lita’s shows? Here are her confirmed tour dates so far:

May 30 – Orlando, FL – Club Firestone
June 12 – Piercy, CA – Riverview Ranch
June 20 – Zaragoza, Spain – Metalway Festival
July 3 – Milwaukee, WI – Summerfest
July 17 – Walker, MN – Moondance Jam
August 20 – Algona, IA – Rock Gone Wild

CAN'T STOP ROCKIN GRAPHIC

There is also an update to the upcoming summer pairing of Styx and REO Speedwagon, with special guests 38 Special. You can now purchase the single “Can’t Stop Rockin’” on iTunes – it’s a great tune with a Damn Yankees sound, and it’s sung and performed by both Styx and REO Speedwagon. You can also check out a couple media clips: a TV spot on the tour, and a brief clip featuring an interview with frontmen Tommy Shaw and Kevin Cronin.
