Solo Artists Are Staying Busy

George Thorogood - July 12, 2008

Bands and package tours are always a hot topic, especially this year, but solo artists like George Thorogood are staying busy as well. After a string of European dates in May, America’s most notorious blues guitarist (and the world’s greatest bar band) will be embarking on a 30 date trek across the United States. The schedule gets a bit grueling in August when George will be on stage for 13 of 15 nights, but I’m sure he can handle it. Blues fans are in for an extra treat as select dates (*) will feature Grammy award winning Jonny Lang, a young North Dakota native who released his first album at age 15.

  • Rick Springfield will also be making the rounds this summer. Following the successful release of Venus in Overdrive, his highest charting album in over 20 years, the non-stop rocking continues at amphitheaters, casinos, and fairs all across the US. Get all of Rick’s latest tour dates here, and visit the official website at www.rickspringfield.com.
  • All is still quiet on the ‘Nuge front. Last year Ted Nugent turned 60 and played his 6,000th show, but will he let this slow him down? It’s doubtful. Although no tour dates are planned yet for this year, he will be appearing in Manheim, PA for an autograph signing on April 25, and at the NRA Convention in Phoenix, AZ on May 16 and 17.
  • Eddie Money is another hard working musician, so hard working that “Two Tickets to Paradise: The Musical” has been developed and will debut on June 4 at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center in Long Island, New York. In addition, Eddie will also be playing over 30 shows this summer in America.
  • Update on 4/7 @ 2:08pm: We’ve also received word that Alice Cooper will be touring the United States later this summer after he wraps things up in Europe.
