Find Your Place in the Sun

PABLO CRUISE LOGO

The name Pablo Cruise may bring back some memories of smooth rock from the ’70s. The quartet cruised onto the charts in 1977 with the tight groove of “Whatcha Gonna Do“, and the unforgettable melody of “A Place in the Sun“. Their songs featured a solid rhythm section and were layered with vocal harmonies and electric guitar hooks. Although success began to slip away at the end of the decade, in the end over 5 million albums had been sold and a timeless catalog of tropical tinged rock was created. In the ’90s keyboardist and songwriter Cory Lerios collaborated with Survivor‘s Jimi Jamison to pen the theme to Baywatch – “I’m Always Here” – and it wasn’t until 2004 until a true reunion of the band took place. Lerios is now joined by original members David Jenkins and Steve Price, as well as George Gabriel who replaces the late Bud Cockrell.

The band also began touring once the reunion had taken place, and they’ve been reclaiming their fans through tremendous live performances ever since. Last summer’s Will Ferrell blockbuster Step Brothers featured the actor wearing one of the band’s shirts, quickly becoming a Pablo Cruise publicity boon. If you’re near the west coast, you will want to check out the band’s tour schedule below. You can even order the Pablo Cruise shirt worn by Will Ferrell at this link.
