Summer rock tours have begun to wrap up as the days grow shorter and cooler. The concert treks of Aerosmith and Whitesnake came to an end prematurely as the vocalists for both groups suffered sudden health problems. This fall, the focus will turn to new albums as the likes of Kiss and Bon Jovi set out to deliver the studio goods. Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect to see on store shelves during the coming months.
Europe : Last Look at Eden | PRE-ORDER | September 14 | The classic line-up returns with their third studio album as a reunited force. A lead single in the form of the title track has already started to make waves since it premiered in June. The accompanying music video is marked with stunning production that is sure to cause head banging and head turning alike – view it here. It’s only available as an import for now, but don’t let that get in the way of hearing this album.
Ace Frehley : Anomaly | PRE-ORDER | September 15 | It’s his first studio effort in 20 years, and you better believe that a lot has changed for the former member of KISS. A conversation with metal personality Eddie Truck led to a last minute swap of the first single from a cover song, “Fox on the Run”, to a new Ace original in the form of “Outer Space”. Trunk insisted that a cover song was no way to start out after 20 years, and Frehley listened. You’ll find Anomaly at almost all retailers including Best Buy and Wal-Mart, but before then you can order autographed copies at the Pre-order link.
Foreigner : Can’t Slow Down | PRE-ORDER | September 29 | The wait has also been long for something new from one of rock’s most prolific and respected groups. Foreigner will release a CD packed with more melody than you can handle in September, and if you need proof, look no further than the first single, “When It Comes to Love” (listen). It’s a 2 CD, 1 DVD Wal-Mart exclusive that includes recent concert footage and a disc of Foreigner classics re-recorded with the current line-up. You don’t want to miss this one – it’s a sure fire hit.
Lita Ford : Wicked Wonderland | PRE-ORDER | October 6 | Countless musicians have taken leaves of absence from the music scene only to return with the same sound years later. It’s a well known formula, but Lita Ford has broken the mold with a batch of songs that couldn’t be more fresh, daring, and provocative. You could say that it’s not your father’s Lita – and you’d be right. She’s been giving the new tracks extensive play during her solo tour, but if you haven’t had the pleasure, visit litaxx.tv and keep your eye out for Wicked Wonderland in October.
KISS : Sonic Boom | October 6 | If you have yet to hear the news that KISS is coming out with a new CD, then what rock are you under? The band’s PR machine is just as impressive as the first single, “Modern Day Delilah”, which you can hear at KissOnline as well as on numerous radio stations. Paul Stanley has worked overtime as the album’s producer, but clearly saved some energy when it came time to enter the studio. His voice is seemingly unaffected by time; you must hear it to believe it. The rest of the songs drop on October 6, and the tour kicks off in late September.
