“Your people are our people.” That’s what ZZ Top had to say about Friday’s announcement of the first band signed to play at the Buffalo Chip Amphitheater during the 2010 Sturgis Rally. There’s no doubt that this is just the start of yet another great year of concerts at The Chip, and what better band than the Texas Trio to get the party started on Monday. Chip Promoter and owner Rod Woodruff shared that sentiment, adding “We are truly honored that rock icons like ZZ Top chose the Buffalo Chip as one of the venues they’ll play in 2010 to celebrate their 40 years of entertaining. The Buffalo Chip’s campers are the bulls-eye target audience for a party band like ZZ Top.”
ZZ Top’s tour with Aerosmith this summer was famously cut short at the Buffalo Chip, but that hasn’t stopped the Top from continuing to entertain crowds all across the United States. This fall, the band heads to Europe for over a dozen shows, and next summer will undoubtedly see another round of touring around their Sturgis performance. Watch here for all the latest on next year’s summer festival announcements, including the Buffalo Chip.
