Iconic rock band Guns N’ Roses is preparing for their first major North American concert tour in three years. To support last year’s Chinese Democracy release, the band has announced three Japan shows in December, and 13 Canadian gigs in January and February of 2010. Joining the band on stage for the Canadian leg will be none other than Sebastian Bach, who took a year off from touring for most of this year and joined up with VH1′s Celebrity Fit Club. It all kicks off in Winnipeg, Manitoba in the dead of winter on January 13 – and Bach couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the tour if he tried.
“As I type this, I just cannot believe that I am announcing to all of you that yes, we will be going on the road with GUNS N’ (expletive) ROSES in my hometown country of Canada in January and February of 2010!!!!” said Bach, a graduate of Ontario’s Lakefield College. “It’s time to sit back and realize, hey, we have been doing this a long time. From Guns N’ Roses taking us on tour in North America and Europe in 1991, Australia and New Zealand in 1993, taking us out again in America, Europe, and Canada in 2006, Axl Rose and myself recording “Sorry” for Chinese Democracy and “Back in the Saddle“, “(Love Is) A Bitchslap” and “Stuck Inside” for my album Angel Down, taking us out again in Australia and New Zealand in 2007….are you noticing a theme here? Loyalty? Friendship? Commitment? Passion?”
The brief leg in the far north will reportedly be followed by more touring on what GNR is calling the Chinese Democracy World Tour. In addition, Danko Jones, a three-piece rock band from Ontario, will join in as the opener for all Canadian shows.
Last year’s album was a success for Guns, reaching platinum in 13 countries, and triple platinum in Canada thanks to its widely publicized #1 debut. As for the prospects of partial reunion of the group with guitarist extraordinaire Slash, fans would be well advised to enjoy the situation as it stands. In a recent chat with BBC, he revealed that waiting to reunite with Axl Rose is not on the top of his to-do list. “I just feel for people that don’t seem to get it. All things considered, it’s been a really long time, and everybody’s moved on,” he stated.
