New Single from Dokken on the Way

Dokken - July 25, 2009

Veteran hard rockers Dokken are stepping back onto the new music scene once again, this time with a package of re-recorded classics accompanied by a brand new single titled “Almost Over“. We wouldn’t encourage you to read too much into the song’s name, however, as the sheer amount of music headlines on the band in recent months suggest that Dokken is far from over.

If you’re not up to speed, the band took on the identity of a computer virus when they cut a series of three commercials for Norton Antivirus software last fall. It’s zany humor at its best as Dokken, a computer virus, takes on a chicken (your computer). Not making sense? You will just have to watch.

Then the unthinkable happened. At a Dokken gig in Anaheim, guitarist George Lynch and bassist Jeff Pilson were invited on stage to perform. It was the first time in nearly 13 years that the original or “classic” lineup of Dokken had played together. Will it lead to further collaboration? Fans will have to wait and see. Pilson is now a full-time member of Foreigner, and Lynch has reunited his own band – the Lynch Mob.

Now that we’re caught up, here’s more information on the upcoming Dokken – Greatest Hits Volume II release. Newly recorded versions of Dokken classics including “Breaking the Chains” and “In My Dreams” will be featured on the disc, along with two new songs and two cover songs as revealed in our recent interview with frontman Don Dokken. Cleopatra Records is set to release the package on January 26.
