Guitar legend Jimmy Page is ready to tour – with or without his Led Zeppelin bandmates. His plans for 2010 include a globally-broadcast gig in Beijing at the inaugural Show of Peace, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of a cultural exchange agreement between the United States and China.
Speaking to Sky News, Page said that he has new material, and can’t wait to tour behind it. “I’ve got the music waiting, and that’s what I’ll be doing. It’s been two years since the [2007 Led Zeppelin reunion show], so it’s time to do that.”
When being asked by the Telegraph about further touring and recording projects as Led Zeppelin, Page’s message was clear. “You’d better ask Robert Plant what the future of Led Zeppelin is.”
But Plant’s hesitancy won’t get in the way of some much needed jamming from Page. The Show of Peace takes place on April 17, and a crowd of 100,000 is expected. Additionally, the guitarist recently completed filming and promotion for It Might Get Loud, a rock documentary starring himself along with The Edge and Jack White. Exploring the writing and recording styles of the trio, the documentary was greeted with a warm critical reception upon its release last year.

If Jimmy Page wants to do Zeppelin songs without Robert Plant, he should get Ann Wilson to sing. No one does a better interpretation of Zeppelin songs than Ann. Maybe Jimmy could tour this year with Heart like he did a few years ago with the Black Crowes.
That’s an interesting idea – Ann is an amazing singer without a doubt. They could even do an album together.
