One of the most recognizable voices in heavy metal succumbs to stomach cancer. Ronnie James Dio died on Sunday May 16th, five months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. He was 67.
Dio most known for being the front man for Rainbow, Black Sabbath and “Dio” is also known as the founder for the “devils horns” symbol. Ronnie credits his grandmother for using the symbol to ward off evil spirits.
